Wie dem auch sei, der Vorfall verdeutlicht nochmla folgendes:

Laufe NIE allein durch den Regenwald, immer mit Führer, oder mindestens zu zweit, immer in Rufweite, und nicht trennen, schon gar nicht auf "Wegen", die man zum ersten mal läuft!

Somit sind hier alle Beteiligten mit Schuld, und es ist nicht einzusehen, dass eine Praktikantin alleine für den Fehler buessen soll. 

Dabei sollen der erhebliche CO2 Ausstoß durch Abfackeln der Regenwälder reduziert werden,  und zwar durch Ausgleichsmittel aus CO2-Abgaben der Industrielaender (Details auf http://www.wir-klimaretter.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=528&Itemid=247

gab es eine spezielle Sitzung mit Greenpeace zu diesem Thema.

Des weiteren verabschiedeten die Tropenbiologen die "Marburger Erklärung", die ebenso wie Greenpeace auf die Wichtigkeit der Erhaltung von Biodiversität bei CO2 Ausgleichsmassnahmen in den Tropen hinweist.

Allerdings scheinen die derzeitigen Ausgleichszahlungen Länder zu begünstigen, die aktiv Regenwald zerstören, während Länder mit intaktem Regenwald möglicherweise leer ausgehen. Warum nicht einfach so:

Alle Länder muessen CO2 GEbuehren zahlen, egal ob das Co2 aus dem Schornstein oder aus dem Regenwald kommt.
Mit diesem Geld werden die belohnt, die nicht brennen und sengen.
Gerechtigkeit gegenueber den Industrielaendern entstünde durch eine CO2 Schuld der Industrielaender aus historisch akkumuliertem CO2 , das sich leicht berechnen laesst und in Form von Reparationen den gefaehrdeten Inselstaaten fuer Vorsorgemassnahemn (Flutschutz etc) zur Verfuegung steht.

Dort werden die Bienen allerdigs auch besonders ausgebeutet, um die unendlichen Mandelbaum_Monokulturen des Sweet valley zu bestaeuben. von dort wrid sogar der europaeische Markt mit Mandeln und Pistazien ueberschwemmt, obwohl wir in der EU doch selber genug Mandeln haben sollten....
die mechanisierte Mandelmonokultur erfordert fleissige und mobile Bienen, deren Sotecke dauernd verlegt werden. Inzwischen muessen die armen Tiere fast das ganze Jahr arbeiten, was natuerlich zu Stress und moeglicherweise zu dem anhaltenden Bienensterben fuehrt.
Fazit: esst Mandeln aus Spanien und der Tuerkei...

Akamas, Cyprus and Kazanli, Turkey still waiting for conservation
measures 
 
At the 28th Meeting of the Standing Committee to the Convention on the
Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention)
at Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, the cases of the highly
endangered green turtles nesting at Akamas and Kazanli were again
discussed. 
 
MEDASSET brought the issue of Akamas to the Convention in 1996 and a
follow-up case opened in 1997. The representative of Terra Cypria, the
Cyprus Conservation Foundation, informed the Meeting that following the
recent Presidential elections, pre-election promises to the local
communities resulted in the reduction of the Akamas protected area. By
excluding all villages from the new delineation,
29 out of the 39 endemic species in the area will receive inadequate
protection. Terra Cypria stressed that from the sea turtle breeding
beaches up to 600 metres above sea level, it is the variety and richness
of the ecosystem that prompted the recommendation of National Park
status for the area, as well as the more fragmented protection provided
by an EC Natura 2000 designation.
 
In Limni, loggerhead nesting beaches are now seriously threatened by
development within 65 metres from the water line and by the construction
of a pier and the subsequent lights. The representative of Terra Cypria
and MEDASSET requested for the File on Akamas to remain open. The
Standing Committee decided not to close the File. 
 
The case of Kazanli was first brought to the Bern Convention by MEDASSET
in 2001, with a Case File opened by the Standing Committee in 2002 which
was then 'provisionally closed' in 2004. The presentation of a
PowerPoint on Kazanli by MEDASSET in 2006 with alarming visual content
spurred the Delegate of Monaco to propose that the Kazanli Case File be
re-opened. The case remained on the Agenda in 2007 and was again
discussed at the 28th Meeting in 2008.
 
A Turkish Delegation attended the Meeting. Although in 2007 the
Delegation announced that a special solution had been found to deal with
the highly toxic solid waste sitting on the nesting beach and had named
a site for its relocation, they said that an unsuccessful initiative to
set-up a central waste storage facility has subsequently delayed the
Soda Chrome Factory's plan to set up its own landfill site, causing
further postponement of the project start-up! 
July 2009 has been set as the time the solid waste treatment will
commence, while the operation of the landfill will begin in November
2009. Referring to the 1.5 million tons of highly toxic solid waste
simply covered with a plastic sheet, the Soda Chrome Factory's report to
the Meeting mentioned, understating the facts, that the "Kromsan Plant
is the sole chromium chemicals manufacturer in the world protecting its
hazardous solid waste of the so-called Chromium Ore Processing Residue
"COPR" in a well constructed disposal site..."
 
Although the government of Turkey has made progress implementing several
of the 14 points of the 2002 Bern Convention Recommendations, MEDASSET
referred to a number of conservation issues that remain unaddressed,
including, the serious loss of beach due to heavy erosion from the sea
and the so far lack of commitment from the Turkish Government to conduct
an overall engineering study in order to find appropriate sustainable
solutions to stop the serious ongoing beach erosion.  
 
MEDASSET called on the Government of Turkey and the Soda Chrome Factory
to start implementing without delay plans to put the hazardous waste in
a safe location, far from the green turtle nesting beach and the sea.
